10am – 4pm
London's hip parents are invited to blaze the trail this summer by attending a unique and special event featuring the latest fashionable trend in parenting: Baby Slings!
Carrying babies and children in slings, dubbed "Babywearing" by American Paediatrician Dr William Sears, has been shown to reduce crying in babies and to promote attachment and bonding. Not only that: Babywearing is fun and fashionable too!
The event's coordinator Becky Littlewood says, "There is a growing community of mums and dads who are enjoying the style and convenience of fabric baby carriers. There are even photos appearing in the press of celebrity parents Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie using slings to carry their kids! This summer, we hope to introduce many more people to the joys and benefits of babywearing"
Organized by members of pioneering babywearing website Sling Meet, and generously sponsored by two local, mum-owned businesses: Sling Diva and Sling Jax; the free event will feature stalls where visitors can try and buy a wide variety of slings and related baby products.
Talks and presentations on the history and benefits of babywearing are scheduled throughout the day, as well as a raffle with some gorgeous prizes kindly donated by UK baby businesses. The highlight of the day will most certainly be The Sling Fashion Show at 12pm, where real mums and dads will show just how easy and stylish wearing your baby can be. Expectant, new and experienced parents and families are invited to come along for a fun and informative day.
A baby sling is an absolute must for any discerning urban parent, and The Summer Sling Show is the place to check out the latest and greatest in sling fashion.
