Can you tell me where the next glasgow sling meet is?
I'm a newbie (Mum and to this site) my lo just wants to be held all the time! she's 5 weeks old and prefers to face forward watching everything, I'm also breastfeeding so I'm interested in learning about the world of baby wearing and hopefully finding a sling that works for us. :)

Hi there marylou,
I'm just going to edit my first post to add in the venues, so thank you for reminding me about it;)
The meeting on the 22nd will be back at The Lane, the bar of the Grosvenor cinema on Ashton Lane (off Byres Rd).
We look forward to meeting you - what sling are you using so far? We'll have a selection of slings there, but I suspect with such a little baby I'll be suggesting you try a wrap (if that's not what you're using at the moment). Lots of us love them, and they're just so snuggly for a newborn!
I'll be there from 10.30am next Friday, but feel free to turn up any time that suits you during the morning. :)

Thanks Georgina,
I'll do my best to be there weather permitting :)
At the moment I'm not using a sling but it has been recommended to me for my lo, as she perfers to be held...i feel that naturally, she is guding me towards baby wearing...might as well give it a go since we carry her so much

Hi
I have a 4 week old daughter I am keen to use a wrap with. She loves being held in a hug hold and suffers a little from reflux. I am breastfeeding too. I also have a 16 month old son who is full of energy, and I am keen to use the wrap to allow me to interact with him whilst holding my daughter. So far I have not had much luck with the wrap, so I'm hoping you'll all be able to give me advice and confidence in using it! I should be there next Friday, and just wanted to say hello before then.
See you on friday!

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I missed the last meeting I was ill.
I visited the Science museum this weekend and thought maybe this could be a venue for our meetings. I am thinking of the two cafes they have near the entrance. What do you think about that, don't think the museum would mind us coming there?
Cheers Christina and Innes

Hi Christina,
That's a really interesting suggestion - it's ages since I've been, so I think I'll go and have a look to suss it out.
See you at the next meet, in Queens Park?

Hi Georgia,
I will definitely come to the next meeting. I thought that the Science center seems very child friendly and there are objects for the children to explore, and I don't think you have to pay entrance if you are just at the cafe area (well we didn't).
Anyways, just a thought.
Best Wishes

For those who would like directions to Friday's meet-up in Queen's Park Glasshouse, please look in the thread about December meet: New Venue. Hopefully that will give you all the info you need :)
Looking forward to seeing you there! I shall be bringing my new wrap, my first woven one, and I am loving it. I particularly like doing back carries with it, so if anyone else is wanting to try that I'd love to give a demo;)

Is the March meet still at the Lane?
I'd love to come and show off my new woven wrap I brought over from Polnad - it's a mixture of linen and bamboo fibre, really nice :)

Hi everyone,
New thought for a venue: Tramway cafe. How does that strike you?
I love it there - there's a great cafe with a good play corner for the toddlers (it seems to be quiet there in the mornings, so we'd be able to sit right next to it). Even better than that, they have the delightful Hidden Garden! Now that the weather is improving, we could dare to hope that we might be able to sit outside and play with our LOs/slings8)
So I'm thinking that the April meet could be there. It's really easy to get there by public transport: 5mins on the train from Central Station, and Pollockshields East is right next door to Tramway. But be warned, there are lots of steps so if you're bringing a buggy perhaps bring a friend too to help carry
Let me know what you think!

HI I think that is a great idea, I really enjoy going to the Tramway plus art is my passion, so could have a look at the exhibition at the same time as trying on slings. Cheerio Christina

Hi there,
I'm hoping to come over from Edinburgh for the meet this friday as there doesn't seem to be any in Edinburgh any more. I was just wondering what goes on. I'm hoping to move on to a cloth sling as I find my structured sling uncomfortable but I'm not sure if a wrap or a ring sling is best for me. Is it possibly to try a variety of slings out?
Thanks,
arigiboo.

Hi there arigiboo,
It'll be great to see you! Yes, we have a selection of different slings - some in the 'sling library', some just our own - which you can try. You can try wraps, a ring sling and a mei tai.
We don't do any selling, but hopefully you'll get an idea what might suit you.

Hi there,
I'm new to the forum (as well as new to being a mum!) I have a wee girl called Nina who is 6 weeks old. I live in the Southside of Glasgow & am keen to get out & about with her. I have a couple of baby carriers, but have been having a bit of trouble getting the hang of my Babasling- wee one looks kinda lost in it! Help would be very much appreciated!
What time in the April meet at Tramway?
Ta muchly,

Hi Fiona,
10.30-12.30 is when we meet. It would be lovely to see you there;)
Bring your various carriers with you, and you're also very welcome to try whatever we have with us too. I'm sure we can help you.
What have you got apart from the Babasling? And have you seen any of the current safety info about positioning little babies? Have a look here (http://www.thebabywearer.com/articles/HowTo/Positioning.pdf)
Hope that helps :)

I'm starting to worry that my LO is so big already, she won't let me carry her for much longer :( and there's so much more in the babywearing world I still want to try...
Hi everyone, I haven't been on here in a loooong time since my little girl is now big enough to not want to be carried ;)
Hope it's ok to post this here? I have a standard custom calyx for sale with a beautiful amy butler print panel.
I noticed the next meet is at the Glass house in Queens park and as I live 5 mins from there thought if anyone was interested I could bring it along for viewing ;)

Hello :hello: everyone,
I am new and am interested in coming along to the next Glasgow sling meet as I used a sling for my little boy when he was younger but he is very heavy now (at only 7months) and am wanting to buy either a beco or a patapum and I was wondering if anyone at the next meet would have either of these I could try on with my boy to see if they suit us.
(my main issue is he hates having his arms and hands constricted and this is the only thing I'm concerned about)
Thanking you muchly :)

Hi Gail,
I think there's probably a FSOT bit on here (if not, I can PM you good forums for selling on), so you'll get more potential purchasers if you advertise on there :) but by all means bring it along on Friday. I think there'll be someone coming who's looking for that sort of carrier.

Hi Georgia
I'll try to come along to the July meet; hopefully by then I'll have a v newborn DC2 and will no doubt need refresher on how to carry a newborn, having carried DS around for the last 2.5 years or so... venue choice is great as DS will hopefully be occupied in playground allowing me to get to grips with sling positioning again :-) (and would love to try the Sakura sling... though really can't afford to get yet another sling!!).

Hi All,

Hi, I haven't been to any meets before but I hope to come to the next one.
I have been using a stretch wrap and a baba sling for hip carries but am keen to try something different for back carries. Does anyone have a Connecta that I can try on? Or a suggestion for something else? I like the idea of something with clips in the hope that my husband will use it. He has never really got the hang of the wrap!

Hiya, What time is the June meet in the Tramway? I'm busy early in the morning, but might be able to make late morning, or will just have to wait for July. I'd love to come along, as I'm new here and am expecting DS in July. I used a Bjorn with DD but we never really got on with it and then I got an Ergo when she was about 1 year old which she still loves at 2.5! I'm thinking about using it for him when he arrives, but not sure if it's the best option for a newborn? Has anyone used the Ergo with the new heart-to-heart style newborn insert? I'd love to get some suggestions/try other slings too. I can bring the Ergo/bjorn if anyone's interested in trying them?

We may have an SSC (the ones with clips) at the meeting - I don't personally have one, but hopefully someone else will bring one :) You will be able to try a Mei Tai, which is the same but with ties instead of clips. It will give you a good idea of back carries anyway. Also there will be woven wraps, so you could try those too if you like.

Hi there, we say it's 10.30-12.30, but to be honest we were still there at about 2pm last time :D So late morning/early afternoon is worth a go. PM me if you'd like to swap mobile numbers, and then you could txt me to check if it's worth coming.
The Ergo seems like a great all-rounder - I've not used one myself, but the newborn insert sounds like it would be a good investment for you. If you do come on Friday, I think several people would like to try your Ergo :)
You could also try a gauze wrap, which I think would be ideal for a July newborn. Much cooler than a stretchy wrap, and easy to get baby in a good position. I have one you can try :welldone: We also have a pouch which might be another idea for you.
