Hi all

I have two children, a 3.5 yr old dd and a 7wk old ds. Ive recently joined the local hotel pool which has no restrictions on no. of adults per children so I could take both of them. Im considering a Solarveil GoGo Baby Tote Mei Tai to carry ds plus float jacket for dd, huge towel for me and ds and towel poncho for dd, taking both these to poolside. The water level is shallow enough for me to safely carry ds.

Anyone done this or similar? There's also the Super Soggy Sprog set from BabyArmadillo which is a mesh water ring sling and towelling pouch, the reason Im thinking of a MT is that I am a bit one shoulder carry challenged and although I can do a rs I thought the MT would give me hands free more for dd.

There's also a Sachi solarweave MT but I can't find anywhere who does it in the UK and not sure why it would be better (softer perhaps?)- in the west of Scotland the sun protection factor is not currently an issue anyway!
:D

Any thoughts welcome!

c&p my reply via email to Fiona and adding a bit :)

If I remember rightly, the other solarveil MTs have cotton straps, because that's a bit more comfy but makes it less suitable for swimming (chlorine degradation as well as the issue of weight.) And I haven't used the ggbt for swimming, mostly because I have the dooker! Actually I'm on my way out to go swimming now, I could take it to try out, but I think it wouldn't be the same with an ornery toddler than with a baby, lol. My concern would be mainly about poppability, and the hood might be a liability too, though it *should* tuck in I suppose.

added bit: The dooker fabric grips really well once it's wet but it pretty slippy when it's dry. I'd like to hear people's experiences of mesh pouches, I do have a bit of trouble with the rings slipping down, but then we're often in the water for a pretty long time!

Enjoy your swimming, whatever you end up using *grin*

edited to add that I think reviews of solarveil rs aren't relevant to mesh rs/pouch discussion because the fabric is *so* different. Anyone got a solarweave rs??

Thanks all - and thanks Tracy for email reply, will ndeavour to reply to that too when I get the chance!

I saw a solarweave MT for sale on B&S so I snapped it up and we'll see how I get on with it - it has no hood so that's not a issue and while not poppable, for now I am working on building dd's water confidence again and maybe when ds is older and wants to splash too would be time for a rs?

Will let you know! First visit nxt week :D

Swimming pool slings are good for your kids. You could bring them with you each time you've got swimming pool activities for your kids security. I would recommend the slings which are really made of nylon mesh and foam tubes.

I've used a Kangaroo Korner solarveil ring sling for years - and works well in the pool- dries quick, but tail needs tucking in.
Also I have always found a mei-tia to be just as poppable as a ring sling. You may have to take the baby's weight off the sling inside the sling to loosen the top straps, but the same is true of a correctly adjusted ring sling.
