I'm having a bit of bother getting to grips with my new gauze sling, having only used a stretchy (kari-me) one before. Not sure how tight to tie it, and the pics show the user putting bub in in the sling while half tied and I just don't have the confidence to do it. Any advice?

Thanks

Hi
you need to have it fairly tightly tied, I usually say "tighter than you would expect". That's why you can half tie the wrap and put the baby. Since the fabric stretches from under his bum/legs to his shoulders, there is no way he can slip down.
Practice with another adult, above the bed, or kneeling down.
For advice on wraps, that's the place to go:http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=115

Remind me where you are? Can you meet up with someone close by?

Hi

I guess it's just the 'not tied securely' bit that bothers me, when it's only round the waist and over the shoulders before putting little'un in. Or have I misunderstood the pictures/instructions.

Thanks for link - thebabywearer website's great, isn't it? I'm in Sheffield, and there are a few Yorkshire folk but not a critical mass yet. Haven't seen a meet advertised so far but I'm assured they do happen. Will keep an eye out.

Many thanks for your help. :D

1. After you put the fabric over the shoulders and put them through the fabric you put around the waist.

2. Make an X with the fabric which went over the shoulders.

3.Tie it at the back, or if its too long you can go around the waist one more time. I usually double knot it.

Now, you can put your baby securly.

Does it make sense?
