No, not at all. Well, I don't think so anyway. In fact, I have my eye on a Rubens Barn (http://www.rubensbarn.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=28) doll for my ds. They are soo cute and he liked his friend's RB doll a lot when he saw it.

This is not intended to be spam - just trying to be helpful -
I will be stocking (in about 2 weeks) some wrap slings which fit barbie sized dolls and also some ring slings for cloth dolls...
Not slings for children to wear (although I do have thouse as well ;)
But slings for dolls to wear...
They look great!

My boys have several dolls that they can play with (complete with pink outfits, well they are girl dolls!) The in-laws were not impressed when I gave DS1 a "girls toy" but he loves it and that is all that matters. DS1 used to play with the doll loads while I was pregnant with DS2 (he pretended it was his baby)
I made DS1 some toy carriers to use but he prefers the toy pushchair instead!

thanks everyone, i now have justification. along with teaching him that breastfeeding is how you feed a baby i'm going to raise a very lovely man/father!

I did want to buy my DS1 a doll when his brother was born.
However, whenever i pointed at dolls in shops he was completely disinterested.
This did not stop him lifting up his top to "feed" his cuddly elephant or wanting a sling to carry him in.

DS has a doll. A boy doll, anatomically correct and designed for potty learning. He LOVES his doll. Loves him. Pushes him around the house in his toy pram. DS MUST be wearing his cowboy hat and carrying his 'daddy bag,' which is my old toy handbag from my childhood. The doll - 'Baby Carmen' - MUST be swaddled in my nightgown! And I MUST be wearing MY hat (a hideous stinky old tweed trilby from the dressing up drawer) while he plays with Baby Carmen. He is such a good little daddy. I'm very proud of him. He cuddles his baby, rocks him, sings to him, pats him, puts him on the potty, puts him down for naps, etc. But most of all, he loves WEARING his baby to the shops in his new toy Beco. We used to just stuff baby down into his backpack, but the real thing is just too cute!
Go for it. IMO a doll is a really important toy for a boy to have (if he wants one).

Oz has a Waldorf "toddler doll" who he calls Alby.
It's the blue stripey one:

He loves Alby, and often tells me if Alby feels shy or lonely and sometimes that means that Oz feels shy or lonely. He carries him in a sling sometimes, and sometimes cuddles him at night.
I also think it's great for a boy to have a doll - why not ay?
