Hi again Vicki!
I'm in for a future Northamptonshire group and happy to volunteer my small scruffy house for a venue should that become helpful. I live in Desborough, in between Corby, Kettering and Market Harborough, though am happy to travel where possible (might feel differently about bus travel once I have two). LLL might yield recruits - could put out feelers if we get a few more people.

I can think of a couple of people on the HE circuit who may be interested, will ask around.

There was a coffee morning at someones house in Ringstead two weeks ago. I found out about it through the Northants NCT Yahoo group then details were on there. Non NCT members could go. I couldn't make it as my morning sickness was really bad. The lady who was hosting it had losts of different slings for people to try.

Shall we arrange one then?
How about the Park Cafe in Abington Park?? on Friday (is that the 8th)? or is that too soon???
Hi
I'm in Rugby, so only about 30 mins away. Can't seem to find much around my area... so northampton is probably a best bet for me.
Would love to meet up with other local babywearers - although not carrying too much at min since heavily pregnant and achey and an independant 2 year old who would rather pick up stones....

Im in Rugby too, and I know a few baby wearers but dont think there is any meet up arranged on a regular basis.
Wow!
I didn't realise there were other babywearers in Rugby!
Would love to meet up if anyone intrested? it would be nice to be along with a few people being pointed at as freaks rather than just me on my own! :)

Yeah we could do a mass baby in sling march through the town centre lol! Although I have to say I am always met with lots of smiles and postive itnerest when Im out and about with him in the sling. How old is your little one? I have 4 ranging from 6 months to 15 years ( I only carry the youngest in the sling though lol!) My other sling friends also have babies of around 6 months. Maybe we could do a meet over the Easter break?
:) i like the sound of a mass march. :)
I have a 2 yr old DS (give or take) and am due to drop in the next DS in about 8 weeks..... so may have to play the easter meet by ear.. just in case he decides to make a slightly earlier appearance! :)
Looking forward to wearing a little one though. Will make a change from a hulking wriggling 2 yr old who wants to walk all the time. :)

what sort of sling do you use for him? and how do you wear it? i was thinking the other day about what i will do when he gets bigger!
i was going to suggest maybe a walk around draycote, but you could end up delivering half way round lol! so i will get some ideas and dates together and come up with something more "very pg lady" friendly!

A newbie here from near Rugby! Would love to meet up with other sling wearers:-)
Have been carrying DS (9months) in an Ellaroo ring sling but am waiting for a 4.6M Ellaroo wrap to be sent to me. I have seen a few movies on YouTube so I'm sure using it will be no trouble rofl

wow! this is great! Rugby is becoming THE babywearing place! :hello:
I'm sure you will be fine with your wrap.. i'm sure there will be one of us local who can help out if you get stuck... just remember its practice practice practice and it will come. The first time i wrapped my little boy i was hanging onto him for dear life i had done such a bad job! ... i got better though
Also in response to Nicpink I tend to use Mei Tais and Podaegis or wraps for rucksack carries for the toddler now and only on the back because i can't see over his head on my front.... and its far too uncomfortable now with the bump.
Looking forward to meeting you all soon!

Ooh great! it's lovely to see there are others around here - was beginning to think I'm a freak!
Our baby was due yesterday, so would love to meet up in a few weeks, when I've got an idea of what I'm doing with him/her.
Can't wait to try the slings out! :D

Ok, I asked some of my baby wearing friends if they fancy a sling meet and they said yes too, so we just need to come up with a venue and date/time!
Any suggestions?
oooo sounds good.
It depends on who has cars/lifts we could always do a trip to coombe abbey or somewhere similar? It has ducks/trees/fields and a park so plenty of things to keep young children amused! :)
or we could keep it local and meet at the park or the local softplay?
What age are the majority of children?

I'm in Northampton (near Abington Park). I'm often told ds3 must be too heavy for the wrap now he's 8 mo! But I love wrapping and so does he :)

Hi to all :hello:,
Allow me to introduce ourselves. We are a family run, independent pregnancy/nursery store in Weedon - our telephone number is 01327 341608 and our address is 62A High St, NN7 4QD (currently - but we are moving down the road to bigger premises in October). We stock a wide range of slings - Babasling, Wilkinet, Kari-Me, Close carrier, ring slings, pouch slings - all of which are available to try on and our friendly staff are happy to advise customers of their options.
We strongly support the ethos of natural child birth and nurture, and we hope, that our range of products support this. We have two children (now 6 & 4) who were the primary inspiration for us starting the business because we could not find what we wanted in the more mainstream baby stores (you know the ones I mean!). Our kids, as well as being our inspiration and reason for working, are also our main product testers - and boy do they put them through the grinding mill. Although we do have a wide range of products, if you feel that something is missing within our range, we will always try to source the product and may even add it to our range permanently:)
We are conveniently located near the A5/A45 crossroads about 10 miles from Northampton & Rugby and about 20 miles from Milton Keynes and there is ample parking nearby.
We look forward to hearing from you, or indeed seeing you in our store, and if you have any suggestions for us please contact us either by phone or via our website www.biz-e-kids.com.

Hi girls!! (Any possibly any guys!)
Im in Rushden area - very excited coz im getting my first wrap on Saturday! I was going to order one from the net but just seen the post for Biz-E-Kids so me and hubby (and kiddies of course!) are going there on Saturday to try on some wraps and pick one.
I have 2 children, Jack is 2 and i have a 3 week old. When Jack was born i bought one of the high street baby carriers but only used it a couple of times, i didnt realise there was all this selection of other types of carriers out there! So this time im getting a wrap (im thinking a Kari-Me one) and im determined to get plenty of use out of it!! If anyone reads this before Saturday any tips or suggestions would be appreciated!!
Hope to speak to you all soon

Hi Vikki, I've not read back on this post so I can't remember what I've said before. :p I'm in Corby, Mum to three, my youngest is ten weeks old. I have two slings, both from www.CalinBleu.com but one is fleece and the other is gauze.
I tried this way at the weekend as my fleece sling has a panel at the front:
http://www.calinbleu.com/baby_fwwc_outside.html It is really easy to take your baby in and out as the fleece is a little stretchy.
For the gauze I had been using this carry:

Hi Vikki,
I'm in Kettering! I'm also a wrapaholic! Although I've never used a stretchy so I cant advise on that. I've got a Hoppediz Dublin, Nati Kalahari, Didy Jeansblau Nino, Didy linen indio and a simple mei tai (I'd would have more if I could sell my kidneys but alas nobody wants them ;o))
I tend to stick Alex on my back most days now as he's getting big and I can hardly see over him on my front!
Enjoy wearing your baby! :o)

Hello all!
I'm in Ringstead tween kettering and thrapston - Chell mentioned me earlier as I occasionally do sling coffee mornings for the NCT - I also do BFG coffee mornings and generally have the odd sling knocking about!!
I have 3 LO's - dd thats 5yo (who would happily be carried in a sling lazy tike!)
DS1 that 32 months and a hoofing great lump - I wear him occasionally with a pod in a tibetian carry. Very funny looks when pregnant and carrying him!
...and DS2 just 8 days old awwww! We have had a play with a pod, a pouch and a connecta - just need to wash the storch!
